Regional meetings (July 2010)

Supported by the project "Strengthening Civil Society and Democratic Structures in Albania" during July 2010, the Agency for the Support of Civil Society (ASCS) organized 5 regional meetings in Vlora, Shkodra, Durres, Pogradec and Tirana. In Tirana, the meeting was held with the representatives of women's organizations.

At these meetings, besides the representatives of non-profit organizations, also took part the representatives of local government. The number of civil society organizations reached a total of 132, while the representatives of local authorities were 16 persons. Of all participants, 94 were women.

At these meetings, the Agency was represented by the Executive Director of ASCS Mr. Rudi Bobrati and some staff members.

Also, in September 2010, in cooperation with the OSCE, Mr. Rudi Bobrati held meetings with the representatives of NGOs in the districts of Korça and Kukes.

The purpose of the meetings
  1. Presentation of the Agency, building contacts and the beginning of dialogue between the ASCS and the Civil Society actors.
    The Regional meetings enabled the establishment of direct contacts of the ASCS with Civil Society. At these meetings, among others, it was discussed about the most sensitive issues, currently facing the civil society.
  2. Promotion of the Agency for the Support of Civil Society through the presentation of the main documents of the Agency (Grant Award Procedure, Application Form, Evaluation Criteria, Type Contract, etc.).

During the meetings the following documents were presented:
  • Documents on which the ASCS bases its work regarding the distribution / allocation of funds / grants to support civil society organizations;
  • The structure of the Agency and the Supervisory Board;
  • Transparency instruments that the ASCS uses in its operations and the strategic priorities of the Agency in line with the priorities of the ruling program and the development of the country.
