Agency for the Support of Civil Society (ASCS) together with the representatives from the Supervisory Board held on February 13, 2015, at its offices a meeting with the highest representatives of the Mission of the European Economic and Social Council and the EU Office in Tirana.
This meeting was organized in the framework of the mission of the European Economic and Social Council, who visited our country during the week. This mission will mark a step in preparing its opinion on the "Role of Civil Society in EU-Albania relations" by the European Economic and Social Council, at the request of the European Commission.
The purpose of the meeting was to meet the most important representatives of civil society in Albania and ensure that their views can be reflected in the opinion that will be prepared by the European Economic and Social Council and also the establishment of bridges of cooperation between them.
The Meeting was held with the participation of the representatives of the mission of the European Economic and Social Council that were Mr. Ionut Sibian, President of the Follow up Committee on the Western Balkans (Group III/Various interests), Mr. Christoph Lechner (Group II-Workers), Mr. Cveto Stantič (Group I-Employers), Mr. Cédric Cabanne, REX Secretariat, Mr. Stefano Calabretta, Representative of the EU delegation in Tirana for civil society, and some members of the Supervisory Board, namely Mrs. Kozara Kati, Mr. Aldo Merkoçi and Mr. Ismail Ademi.
At this meeting, the Executive Director of ASCS, Mr. Andi Kananaj, gave an overview of the activity and achievements of the ASCS and pointed out the need for cooperation with the EU, to achieve the objectives of the Strategic Plan 2015-2020, of ASCS.
This meeting was also an opportunity to have exchange opinions with the European authorities on the European perspective of Albania. At the end of the meeting they said that the mission of the European Economic and Social Council will hold two open meetings with NGOs in Tirana and Shkodra.
